Pawling Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

Pawling Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

The Village of Pawling Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade is a comprehensive infrastructure project aimed at modernizing the borough’s aging wastewater treatment facility. Serving a population of approximately 1,500 residents, the original plant, constructed in the early 1960s, had reached the end of its useful life and was increasingly susceptible to flooding from the nearby Delaware River.

In partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Program and the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust, Pawling secured funding to replace the outdated facility with a state-of-the-art treatment plant. The new plant is designed to meet stringent environmental standards and provide reliable service for current and future needs.

Key upgrades include enhanced treatment processes to improve effluent quality, increased capacity to accommodate growth, and flood-resistant infrastructure to protect against future water-related events. The project exemplifies a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, ensuring the continued protection of the Delaware River’s water quality.
